Digital Health Tool
Experion worked with a US-based digital health tool provider, specializing in mental health solutions across Australia, New Zealand, and Europe. The project was aimed at re-engineering the legacy software solution to improve performance, usability, and scalability.
The Client
The client’s digital health tool offers innovative technology for behavioral health monitoring and treatment. Its interactive programs provide users with the convenience and autonomy of a digital platform, enabling connections with a virtual therapist.
The Challenge
The digital health tool uses over 200 audio and 150 video files for interactive sessions, with minimal reading. To conduct surveys, the PHQ-9 questionnaire for monitoring depression severity is integrated.
To support multimedia, the solution was built on Adobe Director. Lingo, an Object-Oriented scripting language, was used to develop the software. However, Adobe Director is an outdated platform and has limitations in catering to the needs of today’s changing user requirements.
The desktop nature of the app also hindered remote monitoring. As the user base grew, scaling became an issue due to a lack of cohesive design structure.
Our Solution
To address these challenges, Experion proposed re-engineering the digital health tool with modern digital technologies. An extensive study and project requirements analysis were conducted, and the SCRUM methodology of Agile development was implemented. This redevelopment retained core algorithms and optimized the code, ensuring high-quality outcomes.
A web-based solution was developed using React JS, leveraging improved audio and video resolution.
Features
This digital health tool provides tailored user responses by managing workflows. A ‘State-machine’ manages workflows, ensuring accurate responses to user input.
To promote engagement, the application offers functionalities like session notifications and scheduling, enhancing retention.
